Italian for the Opera

"Italian for the Opera" has just been reprinted (June 2014) and is now available as a paperback or as a downloadable pdf. It contains 150 pages and covers in detail the language of the libretto (grammar, syntax, vocabulary, etc.). This book first appeared in 1992 and sold out by 2003. The author, Robert Thomson, also published in 2009 a much larger work (460 pages) called "Operatic Italian". "Operatic Italian" is also available in paperback or as a pdf.

When "Italian for the Opera" first appeared in 1992 here is what one reviewer had to say about it: "This book is not just a 'good read'; it can be picked up again and again and still be thoroughly engrossing (...) ...interesting, illuminating, and an excellent source for the professional singer." (French Tickner, former director of opera studies, University of British Columbia.)
